Thanks for this Sebastian, I really enjoyed reading it. I was particularly interested to discover that some Carthaginians were buried with scarab artefacts. I have long been of the opinion that a civilisation as long lasting and successful as that of ancient Egypt would have a profound influence of the development of religious practices and religious development across the Mediterranean. However, this is a subject that is rarely tackled by Egyptologists. I have my own ideas as to why this might be. Hello Julia, thanks for reading me! In general I don't see much bibliography dedicated to the Egyptian side of Carthage either, it is a complex subject because of the lack of sources, but without doubt the city was a cradle for the perpetuation and expansion of the Egyptian. We have to study it more, it’s a beautiful subject!

Hi Sebastian, I agree with you about the need to study the spread of a ideas from ancient Egypt throughout the Mediterranean but it's going to be a big job because the time periods are so long. I am particularly interested in Egypt's influence of Christianity myself and that's where I'm going to focus because I already have some prior knowledge of it having studied Medieval Christendom at university. Anyway, it's great to meet a kindred spirit. Wishing you all the best with your research and writing. Julia

Hello, actually the Punics were both phoenician and amazigh(berbers) as they mixed and even the language changed to be a mix of both , don't forget that most of elissa followers were soldiers (men) , and also phoenicians were too little to be able to build carthage at first so they needed man force which was to give amazigh a Carthaginian nationality to do most of the physical job and Phoenicians had more of a leadership and management jobs , so they definitely mixed together !

Oh and one last thing , king Hiarbas / Liarbas gave them a land to rent in exchange for annual tribute. there wouldn't be Carthage without Amazigh ^^ please don't forget this fact , and i am from Tunisia so it's nice to see people talk about our history ^^
